WDC Project: Dementia in Latin America and the Caribbean
The World Dementia Council hosted a series of high-level roundtables on dementia in Latin America and the Carribean bringing together experts from across the region. The dialogues covered research, diagnostics, health system readiness, awareness, and prevention. In May 2025 in partnership with Alzheimer's Association the Council hosted a satellite summit in Lima, Peru.

New World Dementia Council chair and vice chair
Dr Joanne Pike, Alzheimer’s Association president and chief executive officer has been elected chair of the World Demenetia Council. She is joined in this leadership role by Professor Paulo Caramelli, Professor of Neurology at the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. Dr Pike and Professor Caramelli have written about their priorities for advancing treatments, prevention and better care.
